 Family:

Wife: Pam Tullos (Married for 27 years)

Children: Austin (23) and Tara (19)

Education:

   A.D. in Business

B.A. in Christian Ministry, East Texas Baptist University

Masters in Divinity, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

Doctor of Ministry, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

Hobbies:

My favorite thing to do is hang out with family. My wife and I ride horses for fun and tend to them in our spare time. I enjoy reading and being at home. My sport to participate in is golf, and I continue to strive to be a better player. I also enjoy reading a good book.

Testimony:

I became a Christian when I was 24 years old. My wife and I were both saved at the same time and began a journey of growth and discipleship together. What I left behind me was a chain of events that glorified the world and gave no glory to God. I am not proud of my past, but am often reminded of how God used those days in my life to bring me to the place I am today. I have been blessed to have a wife who loves Jesus with an undying love and loves me unconditionally. Our children are a blessing to the Lord as well as to us. They both have a passion for Jesus and His people.

Since I have been pastor of NBC, I have seen God do many things. It has been a privilege to serve here and watch God transform us into a community of believers with a desire to serve Him. I have a passion to see people’s lives changed through discipleship in the Word of God. Preaching is the highlight of my week, and preparation to that task is just as wonderful. My prayer is a simple one I pray often; obedience to God in all areas of my life, family, church, country, and most of all, to my Lord Jesus Christ.

Goals and Passion for Ministry:

My passion here at NBC is to be a church of significance that is willing to break the barriers of traditions, to reach out to people of any background whether it be ethnic, generational, or social and to do so with excellence. It is time for the real church of Jesus to stand tall in a crooked world. My prayer is that NBC will be that church with the Word of God as its foundation. My prayer each time I have the privilege of preaching is that Jesus will be lifted up so that people will be drawn to the Father.

Testimony:

I grew up in a home going to church every Sunday. I remember saying a prayer when I was seven and growing up thinking I was saved. Moving out on my own after high school, I spent four years living and doing the things of the world. When I was 23, I was at a place in my life where I was doing things I knew were sinful but had no power to overcome them. Then one night, God revealed to me I was powerless because I had not committed my heart and life to the Lord Jesus. At that moment, I cried out to God for Salvation. My life changed from that point on and God began to work in me and through me. Throughout the next two years, God graciously began to use me in various ministries of the church. Serving those years as a single’s care group leader, counselor for the Royal Ambassadors, Sunday School teacher, Point Man for Men’s ministry and as a deacon, God began stir my heart for vocational ministry. I struggled with this call because of the life I led before. But God confirmed His call to me speaking to my heart through His Word one Sunday morning during my quiet time. Reading  Ephesians 3:20; which says “Now unto Him who can do exceedingly and abundantly more than I could ever ask or imagine according to the power than works within us.” God’s revelation to me that Sunday morning was that His power would work in me and enable me to do more than I could ever imagine.

 Goals and Passion for Ministry:

My passions line up with our mission statement at NBC “To Know Christ and make Him Known.” Throughout my ministry, it has always brought me great joy to lead others to know Christ, watch them grow, begin to serve in ministry and share their faith with others. Because of this passion, I love to preach His Word and be involved in the administrative work of the ministry.

My goals at NBC are to challenge people to love Christ more and serve Him wholeheartedly. To encourage believers to step out in faith and obedience to experience how God can use them to grow His kingdom and bring Him Glory.

Testimony

I first give glory to God for giving the gift of godly parents who trained up their son in the way the Lord would have him go. At the age of eight, on the floor of my parent’s bedroom, I received Christ.  And it was only the beginning.

Growing spiritually through my school years, I developed a deep love and passion for God and His Word. High school would be a time of testing my resolve, as I discovered there was a way that seems right to men, but in the end it leads to destruction. Shortly after graduating from high school, the Lord impressed upon me an irresistible call to vocational ministry.

College brought about an increased resolve to grow in grace and knowledge. A freshman at the University of Oklahoma, I joined Brothers Under Christ (BYX), a national collegiate men’s Christian fraternity. I matured greatly in the faith during this time, much of it from the Lord’s use of men who stood, walked, worshipped, cried, played, and prayed beside me those crucial years. I embraced more of the disciplines and joys of the Christian life as I was directed by my pastor to classic books of the faith (see my Book Recommendations). My ministry call was further refined as I felt the call to attend seminary after college graduation.  I am humbled and ecstatic to be even a small part of God’s great plan for His people!

Passions in Ministry

Sports….I used to play them but now I mainly watch them. I enjoy the beach (Even a long walk on the beach). I love playing dodgeball. I love going out to eat and eating cookie cake.

Testimony:

I was raised in a Christian home and my parents set a great example for me to follow. When I was eight years-old, I asked Jesus to be my Savior.  I was a “good kid” but when I was seventeen, God began to show me what it really meant to be a Christian.  I began to see that Christianity was not about going to heaven and getting forgiveness, but it was about giving my life (my everything) to Jesus.  I am still a work in progress when it comes to dying to my self and giving everything over to God.  The longer I follow God, the more clear it becomes to me that I am messed up but Have an awesome Savior!

Goals and Passion for Ministry:

We attempt to communicate God’s unchanging truth, in a relevant way, to a world that is constantly changing.  Our goal for our student ministry is for teenagers to understand what it means for them to give their life to Christ.  We want them to understand their purpose for being on this earth: to know Christ and to make Him known.  Their purpose begins with a personal relationship with Christ and is fulfilled as they make His greatness known to others.

Education:

B.S. in History, Southwest Baptist University – 2005

Masters in Christian Education, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary - 2008

Hobbies:

I listen to a lot of talk radio, sports talk and news talk.  I follow the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas Jayhawks, Dallas Cowboys and Mavs.  I also enjoy playing Madden on my Nintendo Wii.

Testimony:

I became a Christian at the age of nine.  I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. Now that I have a family of my own, I strive to live by the example set forth by my parents.  When I was 17, I came to the realization that being a Christian was more that just a label, it was a lifestyle.  I knew I had a relationship with Christ; I just wasn’t always living that way.  During this time in my life, God instilled in me a great passion for the lost, which is still alive in me today.

I was called to ministry at the age of 22 while in my senior year of college.  I was in my dorm room talking with God about what direction He wanted me to take upon graduation.  He reminded me of all the times I had volunteered in the ministry of children, and opened my eyes to the love and passion I have for kids.  I knew immediately that my calling was to minister to children and their families in any capacity the Lord wanted of me.  I then enrolled at Southwestern Seminary, and currently serve as the Minister of Children at NBC.

Goals and Passion for Ministry:

My passion is to see children, and the lost in general, come to a saving knowledge of who Christ is, what He has done for them, and how to live their lives for Christ.  My goal for the children’s ministry at NBC is to provide teachers and workers that are positive Christ-like examples for the children of our church and our surrounding community.  I also wish to see our children grow a passion for God and engage themselves in His Word beyond the church walls.  At NBC we want to build a rock solid foundation of Bible Truth for our kids to live by for the rest of their lives.
