Pastor Search Updates

On May 13th, 2018, our lead teaching pastor announced that he felt the Lord moving his family to serve another congregation. In the providence of God and the wisdom of past church leadership provision was made for Normandale Baptist Church for such a time as this.

This page will serve as a hub to communicate updates from the Pastor Search Committee as they embark on this journey of prayer and seeking the wisdom of God as He leads our church to the man He has called to be the next pastor of Normandale Baptist Church.

The Pastor Search Committee met together as a group for the first time for a period of prayer and discussion about next steps. Nick Garrett was elected chairman of the Pastor Search Committee at this meeting and Jennifer Mayhan was elected secretary.

The committee plans to distribute a document with the Sunday bulletin for the next two Sundays, July 22 and July 29. The document will also be made available in an online form. The purpose of this document is to allow the congregation to give input into the profile of our next pastor. The Pastor Search Committee will compile those characteristics submitted by the congregation as they prepare a job posting to be issued at the beginning of August.

The committee has already received 20 resumes and will begin to sort through these resumes at their next meeting.

The search committee's next meeting will be on August 5th.

Our search team continues to meet every 2 weeks and to date has reviewed the first 100 resumes of the 200+ received. The team will have discussed the first 200 resumes by early December and plans to move forward with the "short stack" of potential candidates by sending them a questionnaire in mid-December. This questionnaire will be returned by mid-January.

Our search team has gone through the first 200 resumes. On December 4, a questionnaire was sent to 8 of the candidates who the team feels lead to move on to the next stage. These men will return the questionnaire by January 7, 2019. The team will then prayerfully read through each set of responses to discern the pastor’s heart and God’s direction. The team will meet on January 20, to narrow down the 8 candidates to select the man they feel God has led them to move forward with.
