What We Believe

Revelation

There is a God who is knowable and desires to be known. He has given us his word, the Bible, which is inerrant, authoritative, and sufficient for knowing him and living out our faith (2 Tim 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

The Trinity

God is Trinity (Eph 1:3, 13; Col 1:3-4, 8). The three persons of the Trinity are the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Each person  in the Trinity holds a specific role: The Father plans and directs, the Son carries out, and the Spirit empowers and protects. 

Creation

God created the universe, placed mankind within it, and called it good (Gen 1-2).

Humanity

All humans were created by God to bear his image and as a result, hold intrinsic value (Gen 1:26-30).

Sin

Man has rebelled against God and as a result, we brought God’s wrath upon ourselves. All people are guilty before God from birth and deserve death (Genesis 3; Rom 6:23).

Salvation

Because he loves us, the Father sent his Son, Jesus, to come and live among us. He is fully God and fully man and lived a perfectly sinless life. He was put to death on a cross and then rose again from the dead. This event satisfied the debt we owed God because Jesus took our sin upon himself and gave us his goodness in its place (Mark 10:45; Rom 3:25; 1 John 2:2). By his resurrection, Jesus defeated death and set the pattern of resurrection for all who believe (John 11:25; Acts 4:33, Rom 1:4, 1 Peter 1:3). Now all people are called to repent of their sins and believe in Jesus and his work on the cross (Matt 4:17, Acts 2:38).

The Spirit

All Christians-upon belief in Jesus-are given the Spirit to dwell within them, to grant them power and to sustain them to follow Jesus and worship the Father (John 7:39; 14:26; 15:26; 16:13; Acts 2:4

The Church

Upon belief, all Christians enter into a community in which each member holds responsibility for one another, joined together by adoption by God, for the purpose of building one another up in the faith. This is expressed visibly within a local church, who function as a body of which Christ is the head (1 Cor 12:18-21; Eph 1:3-6, 22-23; 2:16, 21-22; 3:6).

The Resurrection and Consummation

Jesus is returning one day to judge all people. All who believe in him will resurrect along with him to live with him forever on the new heavens and new earth (Luke 14:14; Acts 24:15; 26:23; 1 Cor 15:12-13; Rev 20:6).
